* Celebrated my birthday at a piano bar
* Ate ice cream at DQ with my friend who shares my bday
* Had deep dish pizza with JTL
* Drank beer (mm Hockley)
* Ate ham, watched MJ's funeral, and cried (don't you dare judge me)

Pride 2009!
To aid in my procrastination, some friends and I went to the fabulous Gay Pride Parade which marches by my apartment. Highlights: getting a street-side table by a bar with free drinks, getting spanked with a novelty spanking board, and reframing my transluscent vampire-white skin as "pretty pale."
There were many churches represented.

For whatever reason, there were significantly less flashing this year...

...but the sauciness remained.

Men in cat suits. Natch.

Who doesn't want a female condom?

Lincoln supports the gays.

Amen, sister.

That's one big ass Amurikan flag. Note the dude wearing heels with his flag speedo.

Dykes on bikes.

Woo!

Procrastination
Things I should be doing instead of writing this post:
- studying for midterm
- studying for final (onlie course)
- revising manuscript
- removing very dead ladybugs from my old lady lamp
- vaccuuming up circles of paper that leaked out of my hole punch
- cleaning carpet stain from oozing garbage (*shame*)
- cleaning garbage pail full of oozing garbage and space below to which garbage pail is stuck
- wash dirty dirty dishes
- recycling piles of paper and assorted plastic in hallway
- picking up all my clothes off floor in mini-office
- working on boring project due June 14
- getting shaggy hair cut
- working out
- living la vida loca
- reaching for the stars
- shaking that ass
- living the high life
- flying far, far far away from here

Med Student Syndrome
I know that when you're learning about various diseases it is easy to believe you have at least one of them. Currently, I believe I am in the throes of early onset dementia. Allow me to simultaneously procrastinate and study for my exam:
Stage 1
1. Marked forgetfulness (The stories are legendary. Who hasn't heard me tell them the same story over and over?)
2. Poor judgment
3. Changes in affect (Most of you have seen The Rage. Also I've had tons of anxiety and sadness this year as well).
Stage 2
1. Cognitive deficits become more evidence (i.e. forgetting to pay bills, which I have done this year)
2. Dysphasia i.e. circumlocution (This means describing something without actually naming it. I have word finding difficulty constantly).
3. Impoverished speech (I stop talking when I get tired. And I tire easily).
4. Paraphasias (This means making up words. Such as hermaneuticals. Which I said in class - a combination of hermaneutics and Neuticals).
5. Concrete and perseverative speech (Saying cliched expressions over and over. Not sure if I do this one.)
6. Spatial disorientation (If I turn around too quickly I have no idea where I am)
7. Difficulty making decisions (I battle with this regularly and defer to friends to run my life)
8. Delusional ideas (you probably noticed this about me the day we met)
Stage 3
1. Aphasia (means lack of speech. I'm not there yet)
2. Agnosia (Not recognizing what objects or faces are...getting close, but not quite)
3. Apraxia (Inability to carry out a skilled task- oh yeah. I'm covered in bruises and cuts from attempting to get out of bed or clothes)
4. Amnesia (Who hasn't noticed this about me?)
5. Anomia (Can't name objects. All the time)
6. Decreased comprehension (Just today, JTL disagreed that Mitsou was awesome and I swear, I didn't understand the words coming out of his mouth)
7. Agitation and emotional outbursts (I blow people's eyebrows off their faces when I get the 'mean reds'.)
8. Carphologic movements (Persistent non-purposeful hand movements. Twiddling?)
9. Urinary and fecal incontinence (Something to look forward to!)
Stage 4
1. Cessation of all higher cognitive control (this happens during lectures)
2. Death due to pneumonia or other infection (I'll be hit by a car before this happens)

The Art of Procrastination
My procrastination skills were honed in undergrad when I would suddenly develop an obsession with a celebrity during midterms and finals. I had phases involving David Bowie, Prince, and sadly...Celine Dion. There was also an online Mah Jong phase that pissed the hell out of my roommates because of the loud sound effects. Oh yes, and the Chupachups game that has been taken off the website, thus ending that obsession :(
As a grad student, my procrastination has become a bit more complex and in some cases - purposeful. Also, procrastination is not restricted to midterms and finals - it has now become an all-consuming and constant activity. For example, I made the decision to bring my NES with me and aim to beat every game I own. In addition, The Discovery Channel has provided a variety of shows to become obsessed with such as Deadliest Catch. I now know more about crab fishing than I ever wanted to or thought possible. I not only watch the show, but go to the official websites of the boats and crew and sadly, have contemplated getting swag.
Allow me to share with you my current and future obsessions.
CURRENT OBSESSIONS
Deadliest Catch - this show is on honestly about 15 hours a day on the Discovery Channel. My favourite ships are the Northwestern, Time Bandit, and the Cornelia Marie. I keep Captain Phil in my thoughts and hope he makes a speedy recovery.
Tennis (natch): The Rogers Cup is going on right now but unfortunately there is no coverage on TV in the states. No problem - I have a live score tracker open on my computer during the day so I can check it constantly! Current favourite players: Ernests Gulbis, Marat Safin, Marcos Baghdatis, and Fernando Gonzalez.
Marble Madness: This game is going to kill me. I still make it right to the end and then run out of time. I'm not sure what to do other than play it relentlessly every day.
FUTURE OBSESSIONS
Dr. Mario: I've already beaten this game on 'slow' but there's still 'medium' and 'fast' to go!
Chicago architecture: Next summer I plan on doing the architecture riverboat cruise [it's cheap for students]. In the meantime I'm going to read a book given to me by G which features really old photos of buildings in Chicago.
Shark Week: Beginning Sunday, Discovery Channel will start showing shark-related shows. This will complement Deadliest Catch nicely. * I have now officially resumed my obsession with Great White Sharks. I still cannot believe they are real.

Wasting Time Instead of Writing Papers
The ringtone on my cell phone sounds like the theme music to Robot Repair, a sketch featuring the late, great, Phil Hartman. That is all.
